Bright and early today! 1VDG Training at the PA Lions State Office. It's so awesome to see next year's council again! Long day today. But so worth it! 9:00 - 4:30. Then hurry home to the Bears game tonight.
Today's training involves, LCIF, Protocol, LCI forms and reports, meeting management and effective listening. Listening is ok...but effective listening? I could be in trouble. :-)
Until next time...

Susquehanna Twp Lions
Oh, what a great night at the Susquehanna Twp Lions DG visitation! King Lion Frank (who happened to be one of the youth group leaders in my church when I was growing up - A LONG TIME AGO) was a hoot! Being the retired school teacher that he is, DG Elizabeth and I were on the tail end of a name game where we went around the room and introduce ourselves in addition to everyone introduced before us. OMG! So by the time it got to me, I had to reintroduce KL Frank, who was introduced by Lion Sheila, who was introduced by Lion Jim, who was introduced by Lion Kerry, who was introduced by Lion Ed, who was introduced by Lion Rich (or at least I think it was Rich...and if not it was Russ...oh gosh), who was introduced by Lion Bill, who was introduced by Lion Rusty who was introduced by Lion Paul. I THINK!!! Now my brain hurts! :-)
What a great night for fellowship and FUN! Thank you KL Frank and the Susquehanna Twp Lions.
Until next time,

End of the week update...
I had such a great time during club visitations this week! And both of the "distant" visits were easy to find. THANK GOODNESS!!!
Penn National Lions...I will be more than happy to visit numerous times throughout the year...especially if you are going to have ham & green beans served. Your presentations literally brought me to tears! You should be commended for your donations to the local church's food bank, two local fire companies and the the Adult Literacy program. I got goose bumps when she talked about what they did with the donation that was presented to them last year. Very deserving and worthwhile donations!
Waynesboro Lions...thank you so much for making me feel worthy enough to receive one of your charter night pins...even though I was not present for your celebration. From what I understand, it was truly a celebration. Congrats! ZC Denise...I'm also extremely glad I wasn't losing it and my check was found. Blue Ridge Summit joined in the festivities with Waynesboro for the DG visit. I heard you roar! Keep up the good work!
And last night! Penbrook Lions, Penbrook Leos, East Hanover Lions, West Hanover Lions...it was a packed house! East Hanover Lions had an ulterior motive for holding a joint DG visit. The traveling bell is theirs once again after retrieving it from the Penbrook Lions, who retrieved it from the East Hanover Lions, who took it from the Penbrook Lions. I think I got that right. Who's going to travel to East Hanover and get in the action of "stealing" the bell??? Look out East Hanover Lions....
Until next time...

Busy week ahead...
Today is the first of three District Governor visits this week. In addition, my home club, Lower Paxton, is volunteering at the Food Bank tomorrow evening. Tonight, DG Elizabeth and I travel to Penn National in Franklin Township. Wednesday evening we are back down in Franklin County to see our friends in the Waynesboro Lions Club and the Blue Ridge Lions Club for a joint DG visitation. Thursday is another joint DG visit with the Penbrook Lions, Penbrook Leos, East Hanover Lions and West Hanover Lions. I do love the joint visitations. It allows for less traveling, but most of all it brings Lions closer together to share an evening with fun and fellowship. And of course, it looks like the East Hanover Lions are coming to Penbrook for the Traveling Bell!!!
One mid-term is down. Keeping my fingers crossed that I did ok. I want an A in all my classes this semester. My goal! I so badly want to make the Dean's list.
The second Cabinet meeting of District 14-T is scheduled for this Sunday. Honoring of our Veterans will take place. Also our District's Peace Poster Contest will be announced. And most important will be the nominations for District Governor, 1st Vice District Governor and 2nd Vice District Governor. I'm wondering who will be nominated for District Governor????
I'm catching a cold so I am hoping that can be taken care of by Sunday!
Until next time,

Someone is paying attention...
So, while I have been busy these last two weeks for school (just finished taking my midterm in Sociology), there hasn't been any District Governor visits scheduled. So I've been pretty lax in blogging. That doesn't mean I haven't been busy with Lions "stuff" either. I'm working on doing a presentation at the District Cabinet meeting for Club Officers regarding "Harmony in the Pride". I'm hoping to put a buzz out there and raise enough interest to hold a 4 hour session. I think it can easily take that long. Generating discussion is the key!!!
I'm also doing a lot of research and analysis of District 14-T. I'm in the middle of putting the Cabinet together for next year as well as defining our membership and leadership goals.
I had a great discussion during the 1VDG training this past weekend at the State Council meeting. More to come on that.
Gearing up for next week! Three DG visits and volunteering at the food bank for our normal Lower Paxton Twp Lions Club meeting night.
Until next time...

Gearing up for State Council meeting
It's pretty quiet on the home front this week with regards to District "work". Which is probably a good thing because I have lots to do for school. And mid-terms are next week. I do FINALLY get back to my HOME club, the Lower Paxton Twp Lions, tomorrow night. I'm sure they didn't even realize I was gone.
I received a surprise request last week, which I was very quick to say yes too! My professor for Sociology asked if I would be willing to give a presentation regarding the Lions history, commitment, service, membership, etc on Thursday evening for another Sociology class he teaches. Of course.....not going to pass that opportunity up to share our world! I'm pretty exciting about bringing our Lions onto the Central Penn classroom. Wish me luck! Hmmmmm...Campus Club in the future???

It's been a while...
I have been so engrossed lately with studying and visiting District 14-T clubs, that it has become easy to allow myself to "forget" about my VDG blog. While I'm not making excuses, I hope everyone understands that at some point I have to focus on prioritizing my activities. I am still visiting all clubs. I am still preparing for the DG position and creating goals, action plans as well as communicating with the various clubs on the outstanding service they provide for their communities.
Since I started classes on October 6, I've become totally immersed in school work as well. As Eric put it, he's never seen someone so excited about school. :-)
Ask my mom...I have always loved school. And now I'm seeing it from a whole new perspective and appreciation. Since I finally have a goal of "what I want to be when I grow up", I value the education I am receiving in a whole new way. I'm excited about the future, really excited.
And what's even more excited is that one of my professors has asked me to give a presentation about Lions. Bringing two of my passions together.
Back to my Sociology work...
Until next time..
