District Convention

Registration forms for the District Convention, to be held April 8-10, are now available. Forms were distributed at the Cabinet Meeting. They are also available from Zone Chairs and will be placed on the District Website. The Committee has created a weekend of learning, fun, and sharing for all to enjoy. The Convention will be held at the Carlisle Comfort Suites, on Hanover Street, in downtown Carlisle. Seminars throughout the day are geared to help incoming Officers, provide ideas for service, learn how to make the computer work for your Club. We are privileged to have ID Bob and Lion Vickie Smith be our guests for the weekend. We have scheduled time for attendees to meet ID Bob and Lion Vickie and to ask questions in an informal setting. The Rally, Saturday evening, will be an event to remember. PDG Jim and Lioness Linda Zeger, Rally CoChairs have a fantastic evening planned for us. Attendees are encouraged to wear Club or Lion apparel. Bring your banner. A special photo opp will be taken. I will have the opportunity to recognize a few individuals who have gone the extra mile this year in service and leadership. So get your registration form, complete it, mail it, and be ready for a great weekend of LIONISM.

FEBRUARY CABINET MEETING

What does hearts, a bike, speedo, and peace have in common? They were all at the February Cabinet Meeting. In honor of Valentines Day, LUV OUR PDGS was on the agenda. Our PDGS were applauded for their efforts and continued leadership in the District and their communities. PCC Dr Terry Musselman presented a bike to PDG Frank Wedig, which his wife, Donna, had won at the State Council Meeting, the weekend before. They had to leave before the baskets were raffled off, so PCC Dr Terry brought the bike home for them. Many of the District Peace Poster participants were present at the meeting to receive a certificate from 1stVDG Dave. First Place winner, Eleni Parke, received a gift certificate from A.C. Moores to continue her art projects. She also received 2nd place at the State level, receiving a plaque and Saving Bond. Committee Reports were presented, updates on the District Convention, nomination for 1stVDG 2011-12 was accepted, leadership interaction session on Meeting Management was also part of the afternoon. And the speedo, well you have to ask PDG Frank or Lion John Petrina about that.

FEBRUARY STATE COUNCIL MEETING

The first weekend in February took Lion James and I back to Bethlehem for a State Council Meeting. We were short 2 District Governors that weekend. District Governor Pam, 14-H, was home with her Dad, who died that Saturday evening. DG Fred, 14-N, was burying his 40 year old son-in-law. Life does remind us the shortness of it and the need to have a support system to get through those difficult times. Just as we help others, LIONS are mindful of the needs of other LIONS, whether it be ill health, death in the family, relationship breakups, kids, work, etc, etc. We provide a listening ear, a phone call or card, visit, flowers, casserole, a shoulder to lean on. I am so thankful for my LION family.
