PA Lions Districtg 14-T Membership

Greetings all Membership Chairpersons and other members of Pennsylvania Lions District 14-T. Welcome to the membership blog for our district. The purpose of this blog is for lions from our district to share ideas about increasing membership in our district. We have a wealth of experience and ideas within our district as well as success stories in this area. Why not share that experience, those ideas, and those successes with the rest of the district. Hopefully, as a whole, we'll be better than any one of us.

By the way, welcome to the 21st Century in Lions! Roar!

  1. Let me be the first to share some of our club's experiences with the rest of the district. While we don't do anything that unconventional, we do place an emphasis on membership. We have a membership chairperson position which is a member of our club board. Currently, we have co-chairs to share the responsibility. We hold quarterly membership meetings to continue to generate ideas for attract new members. We encourage any members to attend and we keep minutes for the meetings.

Additionally, we have full-color tri-fold brochures that describe what we do as a club for the community and about Lions International in general. We also produce bookmarks with our club activities that we distribute at White Cane. As with other clubs, we try to engage potential members in our activities to get a sense of what we're all about.

Finally, we continue to do what we see as being most effective. That's person to person contact.

So, who's going to be the second group to share your comments?

We are conducting a Membership Campaign that works on a point system. Each member works individually to bring new members into the club while earning points toward a recognition prize at the end of the calendar year.

Points are received for work done for membership and are not shared between members. Since we are all working together, members can obtain points for seeing someone becomes a member of another club, that is the initial membership.

    The point system:

Inviting a guest 5 points per guest
Guest visits the club 5 points (1 point for each added visit, up to 3 points)
The guest joins the club 10 points
The guest helps with a project prior to joining 5 points
Adding a family member (per Lions International guidelines) 3 points
Get someone to join another club 2 points
Help with Membership Campaign 3 points (Excluding Membership committee members)
Help with Public relations in regard to Membership 3 points
The new member brings someone into the club 2 points to he sponsor, the new member gets points as above.

A prize will be given to the high point winner at the end of the year. Quarterly recognition will be made of the leader at that time.
